Hello!

Hello everyone!
How are things going? It's still winter here and quite cold, but the days are getting longer. And that's a big relief. I'm still at home, and at home, and at home boggled

Anyone got the vaccine? I Norway some health workers and old people in homes have got the vaccine, not many, but I read that a lot of people have got in UK. That's good, you deserve it heart
How is it in Iran @sadra , are things getting better ?

Cold here too. I had my vaccination a week ago, what good it will be remains to be seen given that the other three people in the house won't get one for some time I still have to stay shielding anyway.

Hi @Torborg
In Tehran weather is going to moderate temperature and precipitation is not high. Patients and elderly needs more care. Social and medical protocols followed relatively strict and rate of death of corona virus is not high in comparison with population in Iran and specially with the rate of death in other country such as united kingdom, France and united state so the pandemic is largely controlled. However the British corona has not being spread in Iran yet, but we may encounter the escalation of the pandemic with the spread of this new type of British virus.
People in Iran inclined to use domestically produced vaccine and find it more reliable.
Iran is manufacturing corona virus vaccine that will be available to the public in two months, Until that time we use foreign vaccine for particular patients and medical staff.

Nice to see the picture from Teheran, with snow on the mountain tops in the background smile. We have the British virus in Norway now (and even a few of the South African) and it's harder to keep the infection rate down. Because of that mutant virus the border is closed. In Oslo and the area around us, most shops are closed, the University and many other things. Still we don't have death rates higher than in a normal year. I'm lucky to have a nice home office together with my husband and even our youngest (daughter 24) is here studying from home. But in many families they are working with small children crowded by the kitchen table or they are alone and lonely. For Norwegians the vaccines are from Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca, but few have got it yet. Even if we are a small country we will have our own home-made vaccine later, but its hard to say if it will be good and used. They say it will work for the South African mutant. Yes it is a arms race - between the virus and the vaccines.

Ello all good here, it's warmer this week and it's getting lighter but there's not much to do, you can only walk round the park so many times shy but luckily for him my youngest is back to full time college next week, some normality for him at long last!
My wife my oldest son and his girfriend have all had their vaccine, they're health workers but for various reasons I'm not having a vaccine. My wife works in London hospital and the amount of covid patients has fallen rapidly, they now have ambulances sitting about and plenty of empty beds and they're also putting the wards back to how they were so that can start catching up with standard patients...things are on the up despite the government here making a real pigs ear of the situation, looking forward to spring and summer at last cool

In any case, I wish good health to all the people of the world, you and Hugh and others, and this should be due to the efforts of scientists and praying to God. Praying to God is very important.

@Torborg, @HuwR
Wish health to you
With this prayer

His Supplication when Faced with a Worrisome Task or when Misfortune Descended and at the Time of Distress

O He through whom the knots of detested things are untied! O He through whom the cutting edge of hardships is blunted! O He from whom is begged the outlet to the freshness of relief! Intractable affairs yield to Thy power,
means are made ready by Thy gentleness,
the decree goes into effect through Thy power,
and all things proceed according to Thy desire. By Thy desire they follow Thy command without Thy word
and by Thy will they obey Thy bans without Thy prohibition. Thou art the supplicated in worries
and the place of flight in misfortunes;
none of them is repelled unless Thou repellest,
none is removed unless Thou removest. Upon me has come down, My Lord, something whose weight burdens me
and upon me has fallen something whose carrying oppresses me. Through Thy power Thou hast brought it down upon me
and through Thy authority Thou hast turned it toward me. None can send away what Thou hast brought,
none can deflect what Thou hast turned,
none can open what Thou hast closed,
none can close what Thou hast opened,
none can make easy what Thou hast made difficult,
none can help him whom Thou hast abandoned. So bless Muhammad and his Household,
open for me, my Lord, the door of relief through Thy graciousness,
break from me the authority of worry by Thy strength,
confer the beauty of Thy gaze upon my complaint,
let me taste the sweetness of benefaction in what I ask,
give me from Thyself mercy and wholesome relief,
and appoint for me from Thyself a quick way out! Distract me not through worry
from observing Thy obligations
and acting in accordance with Thy prescriptions. My capacity has been straitened, my Lord, by what has come down on me,
and I am filled with worry by carrying what has happened to me,
while Thou hast power
to remove what has afflicted me
and to repel that into which I have fallen. So do that for me though I merit it not from Thee, O Possessor of the Mighty Throne!

Here the temperatures are much better this week here too. Still below zero, and that's fine in February. I guess we are a part of the same weather system.
I'm so glad to hear that things are getting better in UK, and you have empty beds at the hospitals. We also have a conservative government now, and I don't vote for them. But I like the way they have handled this pandemi. And then we have quite a few people that don't want to take the vaccine and some of them "don't believe in virus" and thinks that Bill Gate is behind it all. I don't know if I shall laugh or cry bigsmilesad

Iran is a big and very beautiful country, my country has a history of more than 2500 years of civilization and culture. The people of my country are very kind and hospitable. Just travel to Iran and see the love of the Iranian people. In Iran, you will find very tasty food that can not be found anywhere in the world. GhormeSabzi, Chelokbab and ... The family is very important in Iran, the official religion of the Iranian people is Islam, and the majority of Iranians are Shiites and a small number are Sunnis. of course are not attractive to you who do not believe in the transcendental. the people of my country made a revolution and established an independent government.
It is difficult for me to give a correct description in English. Please ask specific questions so I can answer briefly.
Some Wikipedia information about Iran is incorrect.

His wife was English, on the odd occasion he took her to Iran where I believe she was accepted without any problems, I believe she had to wear some kind of head/face/hair covering?

Yes it's true. Some Iranians peoples are not adhere to their religious. like some peoples of other religions. But the majority of Iranians adhere to religious principles. In particular, they pay a lot of attention and respect to the elders of their religion. Like Imam Hussein and Imam Ali and Imam Mahdi (as). In Iran, the hijab is a religious and legal issue, but the government does not take it hard on the people. In our religion, women have a very high and valuable position. Is anyone allowed to approach the Queen of a Land? In our religion, a woman is a queen who should not be exposed to everyone. And this contributes to the health of the community and women are not exposed to harassment.
Or, for example, drinking alcohol is forbidden in our religion, but some people consume alcohol. If you want to know the people of Iran properly, you should travel to Iran in the month of Muharram to see how people vow their beliefs and hold the mourning ceremony of Imam Hussein (AS). If there is a problem in our country (such as a flood or an earthquake or the corona virus), everyone goes to the aid of others and builds houses for them and provides financial assistance. Large numbers of young people form groups and prepare millions of food packages and deliver them to the public.
We believe that Jesus (pbuh) is alive and has gone to heaven and will return with the Savior of the end times.

sadra
2/28/2021 3:29:45 AM..ToLocalTime().ToForumDisplay()

In Iran, the beginning of spring is the beginning of the new year (March 20)
You call the beginning of a new year Christmas and we call Nowruz.
Your official Christmas holiday is one week and so is it for us. But people usually have 2 weeks off
Government employees usually take one week off.
Iranians either travel or visit relatives, especially the elderly. These days, children receive gifts from adults (we call it Eidy). The beginning of the new year with the beginning of spring is very pleasant. Our country's calendar is the solar Persian calendar and the first 6 months of the year are 31 days and the second 6 months of the year are 30 days. Except for the last month, which is 29 days, and every 4 years, which is 30 days. @HuwR worked hard to add a Persian calendar to Snitz. It was difficult for me to describe all the features of the calendar. Especially since my English is not good.
The Persian solar calendar is more accurate than the Gregorian calendar
The Persian solar calendar has one day of error every 3770 years and the Gregorian calendar has one day of error every 3330 years. Also, the appearance pattern of the solar calendar is more beautiful. (I said my opinion without prejudice)
----------------------
Persian : 31, 31, 31, 31, 31, 31, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 29-30
Gregorian: 31, 28-29, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31

Same in Norway two days of holliday. First and second day of Christmas (25th and 26th). Christmas eve is the day we celebrate (in Norway), and some people work half time that day. Schools and many people have free for more than a week. Family is very important during Christmas. We celebrate together with family, often with uncle, ants and grandparents/grand children. Many travel to celebrate together with family. In my childhood we prepared for christmas from october. Making presents, cleaning, writing christmas letters or cards and make food. The new year celebrations is something else. One week later and not much family, but with friends.

Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated the day after Christmas Day, occurring on the second day of Christmastide. Though it originated as a holiday to give gifts to the poor, today Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday. It originated in the United Kingdom and is celebrated in a number of countries that previously formed part of the British Empire.

There's not much discussion about passports here, some. But I wouldn't mind if people with vaccine could go to a restaurant or a theatre without me. I can wait. I wouldn't mind if the teenagers and young adults got the vaccine before me either. It's easier for me to stay at home a little longer. But I'm sure I will take the vaccine! How would the world have been without vaccines? My father had polio as I child. He was a college teacher, and could not lift his right arm. He got married and my oldest brother was born in 1951, then in 1953 his wife died. It was the last polio epidemic in the western world. He and my two year old brother where alone in a town far from his home village and his family. Not long after that, the vaccine came.
Just as the old say "don't forget about the war", there are stories about diseases and vaccines that also should be told.

Hello bigsmile
Well I'm still alive, but, and I'm not trying to put anyone off here...I've had a rough run since I had the second jab, Astra..
I was ok on the the day though I did get an instant back ache which went away just as quick but two days later I was totally zonked, I'd never been so tired and that went on for around two months before I slowly started getting my energy back. I'd also after a couple of days of having the jab gotten a strange deep red rash on my right foot which took a fair while to go away and also started getting strange sores on my fingers, these were a real pain and took a couple of months to go away.
Shortly after this I got an real painful ear infection, never had one in my life. Around a month after that and all the way and up until last week I had a mystery infection that knocked the crap out of my me for quite a few weeks, this took three lots of antibiotics to clear up and I just started feeling properly better this week....never had such a bad run and the infection was by far the worst ilness I've ever had. I'd been careful all the way through the pandemic by the way, keeping my distance and being careful who I mix with and so on.
This could all be coincidence of course but I think otherwise, I certainly won't be having the booster jab when it's offered. All good now fingers crossed but I thought I'd share what I think with you and yea you could argue that covid could have been worse but I'm not too sure it would have been by much.
OK now so happy days bigsmile
