Just realized that GDPR will not be implemented before 1 juli in Norway. Hurra!!!
Plan to email all my registered 15000 users and tell them about the new forum.

Nothing in GDPR says that you need to do this.
A forum member can already see all the personal data that is kept and can request to be removed, from a forum perspective no users data is used for anything other than the forum and has been gdpr compliant since it's inception pre 2000
The only thing that could possibly be an issue is how their profile is stored as it may not be 'pseudonimisation' compliant, I will look into that bit

Crazy thing is I've had more emails arrive after the law has come into effect. Crazy thing is the lack of coverage for joe public.

Just doing a backup off the mail server and already I can see emails have been sent to people asking them to resubscribe and this is after the GDPR become law.
