That's because hitting enter when typing starts a new paragraph, if you just want to start a new line, use [Shift] + Enter
That will start a new line rather than a new paragraph (standard functionality for word processing )

Honestly didn't know that, it didn't do that in the last version or my Germanfree forum if that is the last version? hit return and it just goes to the next line with no gap.

It wasn't using a proper wysiwyg editor then now it uses TinyMCE
